Our partners
These three shelters have been our partners from the beginning, and they remain the heart of what we do. They rescue, treat, feed, and shelter animals every single day, we make sure they have what they need to keep going.
Oxsa Nepal focuses on helping community and street dogs. Every day they provide food to local dogs, arrange medical treatment for sick and injured animals, and carry out humane spay and neuter programs to reduce the street population, vaccinating dogs wherever possible. Our funding supports dog food, spay and neuter surgeries, medical treatment, vaccinations, and veterinary clinic costs, helping them reach many more animals.
DK Tibetan Animal Care Center looks after more than two hundred dogs, from emergency rescues of badly injured animals to permanent sanctuary for those who can't be released. They transport animals to clinics for treatment and provide lifelong care for the ones who need it.
Right now DK Care is growing in two major ways, and this is where our funding is focused. First, they're building an on-site clinic for dogs and cats, until now they've been a shelter only, so visiting vets have had nowhere to properly treat the animals. The new clinic will let veterinarians come and work on-site, with a goal of neutering 1,000 dogs. Second, they're constructing a cow sanctuary to rescue cows from slaughterhouses, with a goal of giving 100 cows a safe, permanent home.
The Varna Voluntary Committee for Animals (VVCA), established in 2018, is a student-led committee supported by over 30 dedicated Tibetan medical student volunteers. Their primary mission is to rescue and treat injured animals around their campus, and to feed animals both on and off campus. As a student initiative, their biggest ongoing challenge is securing enough funding, which often limits how much rescue work they can take on. Our support helps them reach and treat more animals.
A general donation is split across our partner shelters where the need is greatest that month. We report back on where it went.
