Take action
Billions of animals live and die inside industrial systems most of us never see. But policy responds to people who speak up, and industries respond to what we buy. Here are actions that take five minutes or less.
Five-minute actions

Most animal suffering happens out of sight, inside industrial systems. In modern animal agriculture, the great majority of farmed animals live in intensive confinement, often unable to turn around, nest, or root as their instincts demand. Dairy cows are cycled through repeated pregnancies and separated from their calves. Egg-laying hens may spend their lives in spaces smaller than a sheet of paper.
The companies and farms that profit from animals work hard to keep this suffering hidden, so most people are never aware of it. Beyond the farm, animals are exploited in testing laboratories, fur farms, and entertainment. None of this is inevitable, and our job is to become more aware of it, and to help others see it too.
What one person can do: eating more plant-based meals, even a few days a week, is the single biggest way an individual reduces demand on these systems. Plant-based simply means food with no animal products in it. You don't have to be completely plant-based to make a difference: eating less animal products is far better than none, and every plant-based meal counts.
It also tends to be better for the planet and your health. When you do buy animal products, look for meaningful welfare certifications rather than marketing language. And talk about it: normalizing compassion, quietly and without judgment, is one of the most effective forms of advocacy there is.
